Tharun Bhascker, director of the national award-winning film “Pelli choopulu” is breaking stereotypes in Tollywood film industry with his unconventional moves and thought process. Guy from Warangal who did his film making course New York Film Academy is creating some buzz in the industry.
“Meeku Matrame Chepta” a movie produced by Vijay Devarakonda is released recently in which Tharun played the lead role. Though it’s not a new thing that directors acting in movies, Tharun really nailed it with his performance in MMC. Before this, he surprised us with brilliant acting as a cop in “Faluknama Das”
Even after his two successful movies as a director he did not go for big-budget films with STARS, he gave the story for a Web series called “B-Tech”, he also wrote dialogues for Sharvanand’s upcoming film. Recently he edited a movie trailer (“Pressure Cooker”). He also wrote lyrics for a Tamil Song.
Writing dialogues is an asset for Tharun. Unlike many other directors in Tollywood he writes dialogues in a very simple and attractive way. His characters speak a very natural language which we could see in our daily life. We don't see very heavy dialogues in his movies. He has tremendous strength on Telangana dialect. We could see Rural Telangana dialect in his short film "Sainma" and Urban Telangana dialect his movies "Pelli Choopulu" and "Ee Nagaraniki Emaindi". Telugu films habituated to same dialect irrespective of the plot whether it is based in Hyderabad, Warangal, Vizag or in Srikakulam the lead character speaks the same dailects. We could say that his first movie gave inspiration to many to make such movies. After Pelli Choopulu there are many movies came in different dialects like Arjun Reddy, Fidaa, C/O Kancherapalem etc. There is a need of films in different dialects or accents like Telangana, Rayalaseema, Uthrandra, Nellore. We are really bored to see similar kind of language in all the movies.
In an interview he said that his writing is his an asset and he would love to make more local movies. Hope he will inspire more film makers to do such films. As he says Filmmaking is his dream, and he is truly living in that by contributing in many crafts. We hope that he will give us more versatile movies which we have not seen much in Telugu cinema.
